Huanggang, known as Huangzhou in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city in Hubei Province. Huanggang is located in the eastern part of Hubei Province, the southern foot of the Dabie Mountains, the north bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the middle section of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and the junction of Hubei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangxi province. It plays an important role in of Wuhan City Circle.
Huanggang Normal University, located in Huanggang City, Hubei Province, is a full-time general higher education university with the right to grant a master's degree. By May 2016, Huanggang Normal University has established stable exchanges and cooperation with relevant universities and institutions in more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, etc. More than 100 foreign experts and scholars are hired to come to China, and more than100 domestic teachers are dispatched to foreign universities and scientific research institutions for cooperative research. Around 50 teachers and students have also gone abroad to teach Chinese. An International Education College was established to carry out international cooperation in running schools. There are 5 Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. For example, it has co-organized an undergraduate major in animation with Kibi International University, Japan from 2011, and an undergraduate major in Pre-school education with the University of Worcester, U.K. in 2014.
